Full History

Manufactured at the Crewe factory of Rolls-Royce Ltd in 1963, this car is one of only 254  long-wheel base Silver Cloud III’s built between 1963 and 1965. The total production of all Silver Cloud variants during that period being about 2,500

The long-wheel base Silver Cloud III’s were popular with town councils who purchased them for use as mayoral transport due to the extra window behind the rear doors providing an enhanced view of the occupants.

This particular Rolls-Royce was purchased by Miss Rosemary Kathleen Prideux-Brine, a London socialite in the “swinging sixties”.  In 1979 she sold the car to Mr John Baines of Atherton Hall, Atherton, Greater Manchester.  He added it to this fleet of Rolls-Royce Silver Clouds used only for wedding hire.

In 2001 the present owner bought this car from Mr Baines.  It has been used for weddings as well as Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club events including a rally in France.

During the last seven years, this Silver Cloud III has been progressively improved both mechanically and in appearance. Improvements for 2008 include the ability of the Bride and Groom to have their favourite music played on their own IPod or MP3 player through the cars sound system.  Also a full-length sun roof will be fitted with a speed controlled draught deflector which will provide protection from airflow affecting the occupants when the sun roof is open.
